I didn’t pick up a camera to start a business.
I picked it up because my kids were growing up fast, and I didn’t want to miss it.
What started in 2019 as a way to hold onto moments quickly turned into something more. Photography became a way to stay present. To slow things down. To capture the moments that actually matter before they’re gone.
Today, that’s still the goal.
What I Shoot
Most of my work focuses on sports. Not just the action, but everything around it. The reactions, the energy, the moments between plays. Those are the things people remember.
Outside of sports, I photograph weddings, families, and other moments that deserve to be documented honestly. No forced poses. No overdone edits. Just real moments, captured the way they felt.
The Meaning Behind JATO
JATO stands for Joshua, Angela, Theodore, and Oliver. My family is the foundation of everything I do.
The name is also a reference to my time in the Air Force. JATO means Jet Assisted Take Off. That idea of motion and forward momentum shows up throughout the brand.
The logo builds on that meaning.
- The circular aperture represents photography, but also connects to the sports I shoot
- The segmented design subtly mirrors a soccer ball
- The trailing lines are inspired by jet exhaust and represent both movement and my family
- The outer lines represent my sons
- The center lines connect to represent my wife and me

Everything in this brand was built with intention. Nothing is random.
Why It Matters
Over time, my definition of success changed.
It stopped being about how much I could produce and became about what I get to be part of.
Time with my family. Coaching on the sidelines. Watching my kids grow. Capturing those same kinds of moments for other families.
That’s what JATO Create Photography is built around.
